STOCKHOLM: Telecom equipment group Ericsson said on Monday AT&T had chosen it as one of two suppliers for wireline access products and services.

"AT&T is a very big and highly respected operator," Johan Wibergh, head of the networks business unit, said.

"The fact that they have chosen us as one of two suppliers for broadband is extremely important for us because it shows that we have products that are high quality and are very competitive."

Ericsson will offer full system solutions within AT&T's wireline access network, significantly accelerating AT&T's ability to bring new fixed-line, broadband-based products and services to market, the company said.

Ericsson said the wireline access suppliers will compete with each other for AT&T capital spending on all wireline access applications and products, including collaborating with third-party suppliers.

The contract runs for five years, Wibergh said.
