BANGALORE, INDIA: Like cameras, Pico projector will soon be an essential component of smartphones. That's the gut feeling of Intersil's CEO and president David B Bell, who projects a huge increase in shipping units from 3M units in 2011 to 58M in 2015.
"Today, it is difficult to buy a smartphone that does not have a camera. Soon smartphones would come loaded with Pico projectors," says Bell.
Though the blue lasers failed to impress in terms of quality images, there has been a lot of advancement in native green lasers that enable projection of quality pictures from even smartphones, Bell said, adding that products with native green lasers have better quality.
