Bharti poaches Essar CEO to head Africa

It has also got Ruias-owned Warid Telecom’s CEO Sunil Colaso to head its distribution and marketing divisions across all its 15 geographies in Africa

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Bharti Airtel has roped in Essar Telecom CEO Jayant Khosla, who is currently based in Kenya, to head its operations in seven African countries.

It has also got Ruias-owned Warid Telecom’s CEO Sunil Colaso to head its distribution and marketing divisions across all its 15 geographies in Africa, according to The Times of India.

Essar Telecom offers services under the ‘Yu’ brand in Kenya, while Warid has mobile networks in Uganda and Congo.

Bharti Airtel chairman Sunil Mittal also announced that it had reached a settlement with Broad Communications, which had filed a lawsuit against the Nigerian operations of Zain.
