Mobile phone device security
The new age smart phones support voice, data, videoconferencing, email and Internet browsing. Several new applications that drive the business and entertainment value of mobile phones are being built and storage capacity has increased from Megabytes to Gigabytes. Mobile phones store business and personal data such as emails and photographs. Security risks are greatly enhanced through the ease at which mobile phones are stolen or lost, the installation of unverified applications and new mobile viruses. Enhanced security mechanism for user authentication, secure operating systems and security applications for the mobile devices would become popular.

Trusted identity and authentication
As businesses and social transactions shift to the online world, trusted and federated identities become a key factor in rapidly scaling an individual's ability to use a network of online services without having to register with each service. There will be a growth of new standards, cost effective authentication technologies and software as a service model for user identity and access management.

Secure virtualized world
Organizations worldwide are using virtualized environments to optimize cost, space, power and rationalize existing infrastructure. These virtualized environments are shared in nature and necessary overlap in technology, tools and resources. One of the key security requirements would be to ensure isolation management capabilities and policies that separate the applications, data and infrastructure dedicated to one tenant from the rest of the tenants,.

Application security
With network layer being protected with advanced network security technologies, the application layer is being increasingly exploited by hackers due to the inherent vulnerabilities in application code. Application Security will increasingly be addressed through security awareness, security in software development process and through the use of sophisticated tools for security testing and code review. Firewalls and Intrusion detection systems will continue to evolve to defend against application specific risks from use of SOA and web 2.0 technologies. New applications will increasing embed security during their development.
