IBM India wins HR excellence award

NEW DELHI, INDIA: IBM India was awarded the prestigious ‘Golden Peacock HR Excellence Award’ for the year 2011 in the IT sector.

The award is in recognition of the overall effectiveness of HR and people management practices at IBM, contributing to the needs of the business, profession, employees, industry and the nation, said a press release.

The category for HR excellence received 129 applications across different sectors and was scrutinized by a three-tier assessment process by a panel of experts comprising of seven training and management experts. Each application was further reviewed by two assessors independently and then discussed by a special committee for normalization of assessments/ reviews.

The applications were gauged on an exhaustive set of parameters covering all areas related to HR strategy, recruitment, leadership development, volunteering activities, and the like, on a total score card of 1000 marks.

The applicant scoring the highest among each of the respective industrial categories were recommended to the Jury. IBM India was adjudged a winner by the jury headed by Justice P. N. Bhagwati, former chief justice of India and member, UN Human Rights Commission.

Golden Peacock Awards have been instituted since 1991 by the Institute of Directors (IOD) a non-profit apex body of directors registered in India. The awards framework based on IOD Business Excellence Model which conforms to the ISO 9001:2000 standard series and is comparable with similar frameworks around the globe (including the Baldrige and European models).
