SAN DIEGO, USA: Provider of storage virtualization software for Linux and AIX systems SMV, Inc., has announced the general availability of SMV-OP version 3.2 for Linux and AIX.
SMV-OP is designed for operating system, database file system and continuous data protection in a centrally managed SAN-boot environment, providing instant recovery with minimal manual procedures including progressive recovery, minimal reconfiguration and adaptive support of heterogeneous environment.
SMV-OP's snapshot-based protection restores the system disk to a previous working state without having to reconfigure host bios, or stop the host computer. SMV-OP's featured progressive recovery increases system availability, allowing users to access applications and data as soon as the recovery process is instigated. The ability to seamlessly recover operating system, coupled with high system availability, significantly reduces the user's TCO and increases productivity by minimizing downtime.
"SMV-OP provides a flexible approach to AIX system recovery," said Bai Gang, VP of marketing for H3C Corporation, Hangzhou, China. "Unlike typical disk-imaging restore utilities that restore the operating system from the backup volume, SMV-OP has the ability to boot AIX from the source volume -- saving IT administrator a lot of grace when it comes to failure recovery."
SMV-OP's point-in-time recovery also protects business data. It features agent-less deployment, graphic user interface, robust recovery scheme and adaptive support of heterogeneous environment.
