PUNE, INDIA: Persistent Systems, a leader in software product development services, today announced the establishment of a Center of Excellence (CoE) around the Android Open Mobile platform.
The focus of the center will be to develop feature-rich applications on the Android platform. Network operators, handset manufacturers and developers of new mobile applications and services can leverage the Center’s proven expertise to grow their open source mobile markets.

Persistent has extensive expertise with the Android SDK, the developer device, tools, setups, builds, porting and features like maps, location, media, browser, accelerometer, UI and other application framework components.
The Persistent team has developed tools and frameworks that accelerate application development, porting and interoperability testing of mobile applications. The team works on application development and also on Linux-based source code which involves porting Android to different chipsets, added the release.
Two new applications developed by the CoE have been recently released in the Android market: ‘Knight Tour’ and ‘World of Web’ (WoW). They are available for download on the application store.
