BANGALORE, INDIA: Provider of enterprise Linux solutions, SUSE recently released an early development snapshot of its OpenStack-powered cloud infrastructure solution.
SUSE Cloud powered by OpenStack, is fully configured, OpenStack-powered appliance based on OpenStack’s latest version, Diablo, said a press release.
The release further added that, it is also the first public preview of SUSE's hypervisor agnostic, operating system neutral, open source cloud infrastructure solution.
"We have successfully commercialized enterprise-quality open source software for 20 years and today we help more than 13,000 customers run their business on SUSE Linux Enterprise along with our technical support," said Nils Brauckmann, president and general manager, SUSE.
Brauckmann added, "What we have done with SUSE Linux Enterprise, we will now do for OpenStack-powered cloud infrastructure."
Now available for free on SUSE Gallery, this early release offers customers and partners a glimpse into how quick and easy it can be to build, deploy and manage both private and public cloud infrastructure, added the release.
"Building a cloud solution today with OpenStack components is not a trivial task," said Gary Chen, research manager, Cloud and Virtualization System Software, IDC.
"SUSE has made building open source private clouds easier with its new Diablo image and it's encouraging to see SUSE as an OpenStack member working to make OpenStack simpler to deploy and consume," added Chen.
Based on OpenStack's interrelated cloud computing platform components, SUSE's cloud infrastructure solution runs on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and leverages existing and proven tools such as SUSE Studio and SUSE Manager, added the release.
The integration of SUSE tools, platform and OpenStack, coupled with SUSE's extensive experience delivering enterprise-class, open source solutions, removes many of the complex, cost-prohibitive and risky issues associated with cloud computing.
