NEW YORK, USA: Misys Open Source Solutions, a division of Misys plc, announced today that it will demonstrate newly developed software at the healthcare industry’s week-long interoperability testing event, Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Connectathon in Chicago.

According to the IHE PIX/PDQ Profile, Misys Open Source Solutions has developed server-based technology, dubbed OpenPIXPDQ, which is a needed component to assist in providing standards-based interoperability among disparate health information systems.

The technology, used in conjunction with other IHE Profile technologies to build health information exchanges (HIEs), is expected to be a core component in allowing HIEs to connect to the growing Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN).

“In December 2008, we announced that we’d be ready to deliver a beta, open source version of the Patient Identifier Cross-Reference and Patient Demographic Query function (OpenPIXPDQ) at this year’s Connectathon in Chicago, and our development team has made good on that promise,” said Tim Elwell, vice president of Open Source Solutions, Healthcare.

OpenPIXPDQ will be tested, alongside software developed by more than 70 other vendors, to prove that traditionally competitive systems are able to send and receive health information among one another. Upon completion of Connectathon on February 27, the results will be published on the event’s site (www.IHE.net) and the latest version off the Misys software will be available on Sourceforge.net.

Additionally, the software will be demonstrated at the year’s largest Health Information Technology (HIT) showcase, the Healthcare Information Management Systems & Society’s (HIMSS) Annual Conference and Exhibition, held April 4-8 in Chicago.
