RESTON, USA: ElementRiver has announced the launch of Potomac, an open source framework for Flex developers giving them the ability and confidence to bring Flex into Enterprise application development.
Potomac, based on the concepts of the OSGi framework module provides Flex developers an environment for the modularization of their applications into smaller bundles.
Each bundle is a tightly-coupled, dynamically loadable collection of classes, UI components, and services said the release.
Critics of using Flex for enterprise applications have now been answered with Potomac. Benefits of using Potomac include:
* Enterprise Modularity allowing plugging bundles into applications written by multiple team members or even third parties * Scalability and speed improvements by only loading modules as needed * Metadata-driven approach that improves productivity of Flex developers
Chris, CEO said, "Flex is a great technology, but a lot of issues have been raised in bringing Flex to the enterprise. These issues really called for an OSGi framework approach."
The release added, ElementRiver is committed to helping improve the framework overtime in concert with the community of developers that adopts it.
