RESTON, USA: Axiom Software Inc. launched a new iPhone application called Searchable Radio in conjunction with the launch of the National Public Radio's (NPR.org) new API.
Axiom Software was invited by NPR to participate in the API alpha release. As part of the API launch, NPR is showcasing several widgets and applications on their website that were built using the API, including Axiom Software's Searchable Radio. This launch represents one of the first comprehensive Open APIs introduced by a major national media organization.
Axiom Searchable Radio is developed on the Axiom Stack web application server. Axiom Stack is a simple, flexible and robust application which is Java-based and interprets Javascript through Rhino. Axiom Stack will be re-released under the open source General Public License (GPL) by the end of July 2008.
"We are excited at the opportunity to be one of the first companies to develop on the new NPR API," says Gregg Wyland, director of product management for Axiom Software, Inc.
He added, "Axiom Stack's search-based storage provides the basis to quickly find and listen to all your favorite NPR news and features from your iPhone. Our developers were able to take advantage of Axiom Stack's rapid development capabilities to have the application completed within two weeks."
