IIM Lucknow professor named best in IT field

SINGAPORE: Dr. Bharat Bhasker, Professor of Information Technology and Systems at IIM Lucknow, has been conferred the 'Best Professor of Information Technology Management' at the recently concluded Asia’s Best B-School Awards in Singapore.

The Asia’s Best B-School Awards were presented by CMO Asia with CMO Council as its strategic partner and Stars of the Industry Group as a research partner.

The Awards are presented to individuals and institutions who have surpassed several levels of excellence and set an example of being a role model and exemplary leadership. Individuals behind the institution who are building their institutions through leadership, innovation, academic and industry interface and an objective of building future leaders, said a press release.

Prof. Bharat Bhasker was earlier conferred the 'Best Professor of Information Technology' at Dewang Mehta Business School Awards at Mumbai in Sept 2008. In Jan 2004, he was honored as the Best Researcher in the field of electronic commerce by the McMaster World Congress, Hamilton, Canada. In 2001 Rotary Club awarded him Scroll of Honor for his work and public service in the field of information technology and management. He won NASA’s Best Research Productivity Award in 1992 in recognition of the research contributions.

Bhasker serves as Professor of Information Technology & Systems and Head of Internet Commerce Research Center and is the former Dean of Indian Institute of Management Lucknow. Dr. Bhasker holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering from I.I.T. Roorkee; Master’s and Doctorate in Computer Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, USA.

Prior to joining IIM Lucknow, Bhasker spent 11 years working in the leading research establishments in USA. He spent seven years with Goddard Space Flight Center of NASA in leading research and research management positions.

Bhasker has several publications in the area of Data Management, Electronic Commerce, Agent Technologies and Data Mining in International Journals and Conferences. He has authored a book: "Electronic Commerce: Framework, Technologies and Applications", which is into its third edition and is published by Tata McGrawHill, the release added.
