BROOMFIELD, uSA eSoft, Inc., a vendor of OEM technologies for the Internet security and content management markets, announced that it has ported its SiteFilter Software Development Kit (SDK) to the Windows platform. eSoft's SiteFilter offering, with over 100 million URLs in more than 50 categories, together with eSoft's unique ability to team a high-performance local database with rapid "cloud-based" look-up and real-time classification, provides hardware and software vendors and service providers with a cost-effective way to improve and extend their existing content filtering and security technologies.
eSoft's SiteFilter focuses on identifying malicious pages, infected websites, phishing scams and other harmful Internet content as it appears, even if it appears on otherwise trusted websites such as YouTube or FaceBook. Additionally, eSoft categorises pages so partners can create policy engines that block games, social networking, gambling, pornography and other categories of websites that may not be appropriate in classrooms, the workplace, or elsewhere. Near real-time updates keep end-users from going to new malicious websites or circumventing filters by using anonymising proxies.
"By making the SDK available for the Windows platform, eSoft is offering up a multitude of possible uses for its SiteFilter technology, including integration with Microsoft Forefront Edge Security and Access, Microsoft Server 2008, and numerous desktop applications," said Patrick Walsh, director, product management and marketing, eSoft. "eSoft can now be used by Linux-based systems, flash-based systems with any operating system, portable devices and mobile phones, hard-disk based systems, and Windows-based systems. We're looking forward to working with our partners to integrate SiteFilter into their diverse products."
