LIMOGES, FRANCE: Selected by an international jury of Web design professionals, the five winners of the WIF 2008, which took place at Limoges between 17th and 19th April, demonstrated their ability to think up the most amazing solutions in 24 hours for communication in the future. Forty teams of Web designers from all over the world pitted their wits against each other in this final on the subject: "What will e-mail communication look like in 2020 and will it still exist?" The first prize of €15,000 was won by the Swedish "Team Torsk" with an interface mixing a standard e-mail tool and a social network with geolocation options and interactive video. Click here to see their creation. The second prize was awarded to the Brazilian team "Bope". This group of webdesigners from Sao Leopoldo explored science-fiction by suggesting a communicating chip implanted in the palm of the hand. An idea to follow up: "the body is the future". The third prize was won by "1st december", an Indian team, which stood out for its work on Web accessibility for people with disabilities. It won a cheque for €3, 000. The Young Hopefuls prize was awarded to "Team Rigaud", a team of just one webdesigner from Strasbourg who gave us his vision of the future of email with cardboard, glue and scissors. Finally, "Team 203" from Japan won the prize for Originality with "Emotion Mail", a site dedicated to the communication of emotions with no language barrier through e-mails sent by thought. The success of this competition is proof that Webdesign, Limousin and creativity have found their international showcase: the WIF!
