BANGALORE, INDIA: Google has announced Google Developer Day in India. Developer Day is scheduled for October 18 and is free to attend. Google Developer Day is an in-depth gathering for developers to share knowledge about Google's tools and about web application development in general. Google Developer Day will be held in Bangalore at the Chancery Pavilion.

"It's an incredibly exciting time to be a web developer, with so many powerful APIs, open distribution platforms, and development tools becoming available for easy and often free consumption," said Prasad Ram, head of engineering and R&D at Google India.  "As a community, developers are shaping the future of the web, putting foundations in place now that future generations of users won't be able to imagine living without.  Google's developer events are a place for developers to celebrate this moment, collaborate with each other, and learn about faster and better paths to successful web applications and a better web."

Tools for Making the Web Better

At Google Developer Day, attendees will hear from top Google engineers and get a mix of practical, hands-on advice for building web apps as well as opportunities to learn about emerging programming trends.

Sessions at the event will cover:

• APIs & Tools: Improving performance and compatibility of web
  applications is important. Google APIs and tools such as Google Web Toolkit and Google App Engine allow developers to create efficient AJAX applications in Java and store applications on Google's servers.  Sessions will cover these tools and others that enable better web development.
• Social: The web is an inherently social place. A new wave of APIs
  and frameworks, including OpenSocial, are opening up interesting ways to interact with people through applications.
• Indic: Google is developing a set of tools to help Indians
  experience the web in their native language. These sessions will teach developers how to use the Indic tools to reach engage users in one of the Internet's fastest-growing countries.
• Maps & Geo: Since the introduction of the Google MapsT API in 2005,
  geo and map applications have been one of the most interesting phenomena on the web. These sessions focus on the many aspects of geo applications.
