BANGALORE, INDIA: Forum Nokia, Nokia’s global developer program, will host the first Forum Nokia Developer Conference for India on 20th January 2009 in Bangalore.
The full day conference will see industry experts, developers, operators, aggregators, Nokia and Forum Nokia speakers deliberate on the evolution of the mobile VAS industry and what the future holds for India. Themed “Infinite Possibilities”, the conference will host sessions on Mobile VAS Industry, Mobile Technology Evolution, Technology Showcase and Developer Evangelization.
The Forum Nokia Developer Conference 2009 will have representation from the industry ecosystem including mobile and IT developers, aggregators, operators, media, music and content houses, games publishers, IT companies, Internet companies, retailers and analysts.
“India has a unique opportunity to lead the world in mobile application/service development. We have all the right ingredients - a strong culture of innovation and collaboration, a robust IT industry and developer ecosystem, a large domestic mobile market with diverse needs and an extremely competitive mobile operator environment that is faced with consistently falling voice revenues,” said Kenny Mathers, head of developer relations Forum Nokia, APAC.
"Today, the local mobile VAS industry in India is at an inflection point. To realize the eventual opportunity the entire industry ecosystem will need to collaborate and scale. The Forum Nokia Developer Conference, India aims to provide the industry with a platform to connect and share best practices,” he added.
Over the last decade, Forum Nokia has been working extensively with the developer community in India, providing them all necessary support in terms of tools and distribution channels to bring them at par with the international community. Today, Forum Nokia has over 150, 000 registered developers in India and accounts for the single largest concentration from any country.
