Rather than starting to learn php, I decided to give webdna a try few days ago. It performs nicely, integrates very well with html (using CODA) and boy! it is easy and natural for anyone with an html background. WebDNA is to php what OS X is to Windows! :-)

I built more intranet systems with webdna than with any other language. It was already there when php was about to be released in 1997, if I remember. What I like most with webdna is the database system: it is built-in and works directly from RAM, which makes it ultrafast, faster than MySQL actually. The best point is the format of the databases: universal, you can import and export to/from almost any database system, or even open and edit from Excel. You can mix languages into the DB, dates, numbers, whatever, without any need to specifically format the field, and webdna will actually be able to manipulate the data, searching, comparing, calculating or building SQL queries. I know no other database or scripting system able to do that. Love it!

Great language. I worked with it in 1998-2003 and left for php, because it was not supported anymore. PHP is a real pain in the a** compared to WebDNA, believe me. So, now that WebDNA is back, believe me, i will not think twice about adopting it as my main dev. language.
