FORT MYERS, USA: Dawning Technologies Inc. has released its latest small footprint interface device in the new JavaLin/PDI Portable Device Interface. The JavaLin/PDI is the fifth generation of intelligent clinical interfaces from Dawning and provides an unparalleled range of features and capabilities primarily aimed at the connection of clinical instruments to information systems. Combining the power of JResultNet Interface Engine Software, embedded within the JavaLin/PDI, with a flexible hardware design, the JavaLin/PDI supports a variety of industry standard communication protocols and can run any of the applications in Dawning's Java Driver Library, now available for more than 400 instruments. The PDI device provides 2 serial and 1 Ethernet port, allows users to connect one or two analyzers directly to the LIS network without need for terminal server devices. LIS communication can use HL7, ASTM, XML, CDF, flat file or direct database connection protocols, with complete message mapping controls. The JavaLin/PDI advances the company's strategy of providing the clinical laboratory with scalable and flexible middleware solutions. Remotely accessible via a user friendly point-and-click GUI and comprehensible rules entry tools, the JavaLin/PDI answers common laboratory issues involving connectivity, efficiency, space and cost. The PDI hardware is a modular design that provides more power in a smaller footprint (approximately 3x5") than Dawning's previous devices and allows for future expandability. Running the powerful Java-based JResultNet software embedded within the JavaLin/PDI enables the user to employ an array of functionality including rules based processing and message customization, complete message mapping control, a number of diagnostic features and much more.
