LONDON, UK: CV Screen the specialist IT Recruitment Agency reports a sharp rise in the number of registered IT vacancies during quarter 2 2010, compared with the same quarter last year. Conversely, the number of applications per role significantly declined during the same period.

CV Screen compared the number of registered vacancies during quarter 2 2009 with quarter 2 2010 and found an increase of 47 percent. During the same period of time the number of applicants per role had declined from 295 to 187, a considerable drop of 36 percent.

Commenting on the findings CV Screen’s Matthew Iveson remarked “We believe that the affect the recession had on the IT Jobs market is beginning to diminish. Companies are growing in confidence and in turn looking to recruit more staff. They are now able to plan for the future with more certainty.”

When asked about what changes are taking place in the employment market, Iveson commented “The drop in applications per role could well be a sign that IT professionals are being more selective in the roles they apply for. We have seen them place more importance on career prospects and training that a role offers, rather than just the financial rewards.”

Iveson added “We have also seen that more candidates are leaving their roles out of choice, rather than due to reasons such as redundancy. This is a sure sign that the IT Jobs market is heading back towards pre-recession levels.”

In conclusion Iveson commented “The first half of 2010 has proven to be a key time in the economic recovery. We are fully optimistic that the second half of the year will continue to be just as encouraging.”
