SAN JOSE, USA: Continuent, Inc., provider of commercial open source solutions for continuous data availability, advanced database replication and scale-out solutions has announced the availability of Continuent Tungsten Enterprise for Oracle for public beta testing.
According to the release, Continuent Tungsten Enterprise offers an easy to manage, dynamic database clusters supporting and Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL. It also provides the highest levels of availability and scalability for applications built with Oracle database and its newly acquired MySQL database.
"With Continuent Tungsten, Oracle users can avoid the 'Oracle Tax' and gain advanced replication, scale-out and disaster recovery functionality at fraction of the cost, without need to invest in expensive Oracle Enterprise Edition, Streams and Data Guard software," said Eero Teerikorpi, CEO, Continuent.
"Continuent Tungsten opens up an opportunity to extend the existing Oracle implementations with low-cost MySQL databases by providing real-time Oracle-to-MySQL replications services," added Teerikorpi.
The Continuent Tungsten for Oracle provides services for all Oracle editions and is designed to:
* Replicate between Oracle database instances to maximize database uptime and throughput by replicating the master database to multiple slaves, distributing reads to slaves, and promoting slaves automatically during planned maintenance or when the master fails.
* Replicate between two geographically separated Oracle databases over WAN to provide disaster recovery functionality.
* Provide heterogeneous replication to supply edge application data from core Oracle OLTP server from an Oracle instance to MySQL, with high fidelity and rapid transfer rates.
