BANGALORE, INDIA: Well, as expected the bookings for India's ultra low-cost Aakash tablet has created a new milestone in the Indian tablet market.
The Android-based Aakash tablet (including upgraded version of Aakash 2 aka Ubislate 7) has so far received two million per-bookings, said an official statement from the manufacturer of the tablet.
Considering the Indian market for tablets, which is not as big as in other countries, industry analysts forecasted 2,50,000 tablet computers for the Indian market in 2012.

Now, with the official announcement from the manufacturer of Aakash tablet about the overwhelming response from Indian audiences, it is confirmed that Aakash has created an impact in the Indian tablet industry.
"Please allow me this opportunity to thank you personally for the encouragement and generous support you've been showing for the past many months," said Suneet Singh Tuli, president & CEO at DataWind Ltd, in an official statement.

He said the response has been overwhelming and further added, "Along with you, we're very excited by this journey on which we've embarked to bridge the digital divide, by delivering low-cost computing and internet devices at breakthrough prices."
"While industry analysts were forecasting only 250,000 tablet computers for the Indian market in 2012, our pre-booking rate is now averaging over 100,000 individual end-user sales each day and have cumulatively exceeded over two million," said Tuli.
He further added that with tens of thousands of calls daily to their call centre, they were unable to adequately respond to all the queries that they received and hence, requested the Aakash enthusiasts to fill-in the query forms on the official website.
He also made an assurance to revert at the earliest.
