BANGALORE, INDIA: After the successful launch of low cost Android tablet Aakash in India, a Pakistan based mobile application development company FiveRivers Technologies and its subsidiary Pepper.pk has announced that they will support the Aakash tablet by porting its apps to Aakash.

The Pakistan based company announced that, once the commercial availability of the Aakash begins in the month of November, Pepper.pk will begin porting a relevant subset of their over 150 applications to the new platform.

Congratulating friends in India on the launch of the Aakash Tablet, Mahe Zehra Husain, Co-Founder of Pepper.pk said, "More than anything, we would like to see friendship and cooperation in South Asia, and in that spirit, we are announcing our effort to add value to Aakash and enrich it with our leading software products.”

He further added that, Information Technology is critical to both our countries as it can be a powerful force to reduce poverty and eliminate illiteracy.

The Aakash tablet, priced at USD $60, is sponsored by the Government of India and is intended for widespread distribution in rural and urban areas, specifically to promote literacy and education.

The tablet is based on Google's Android operating system and is equipped with a 366 Mhz processor and a 7" resistive touch-screen.
