Secure Computing's Secure Mail gets certification

The e-mail security solution has achieve Common Criteria certification from National Information Assurance Partnership

GURGAON, INDIA: Secure Computing Corporation announced that the company's Secure Mail (formerly known as IronMail), version 6.7, achieved EAL2+ Common Criteria certification from the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP), after being evaluated by the US-based Science Applications International Corporation's Common Criteria Testing Laboratory.

The US National Information Assurance Acquisition Policy (NSTISSP No 11) mandates that US government agencies purchase information security products that have been certified to the standards of the International Common Criteria for Information Technology Security.

“This is more evidence validating that Secure Computing's solutions continue to meet and exceed the stringent requirements established by internationally recognized standards, approval processes and security industry tests to protect networks at all levels. The Common Criteria certification proves further that our e-mail security solutions are appropriate and effective for guarding sensitive communications within government entities,” said Mike Gallagher, senior VP, Product Development and Support, Secure Computing.

Secure Mail is used to provide a secure e-mail connection between an enterprise network and a public network such as the Internet.

Secure Mail allows an organization to define a complex mail policy to protect itself against a wide variety of known and emerging threats.

It resides in an all-inclusive device positioned at the network gateway in front of the customer's existing e-mail server.
