NEW DELHI, INDIA: Kaspersky Lab is looking at India as a major market for its computer security solutions and is planning to expand its operations in Asia by opening a technology center here in the next two years. "We have been developing our business in India for several years now, gaining a substantial marketshare and recognition among our customers. We are confident that our increased presence here will allow us to strengthen our position further," said Alexander Gnatusin, Director—Channel, South Asia, Kaspersky Lab. The announcement was made at a press conference that took place in the sidelines of Anti-Virus Asia Researchers International Conference 2008 (AVAR) in New Delhi. The session was opened by Eugene Kaspersky, Founder and CEO, Kaspersky Lab, who presented his vision on the future of IT security industry, modern malware trends and the ways to combat them. The company plans to become number one in the anti-virus market in India and tap the growing market by increasing its number of partners to address the needs of its customers in India, said Harry Cheung, MD, Kaspersky Lab Asia-Pacific. Speaking on the occasion, Kaspersky said, "India is one of the countries which will become our company's key strategic markets in the near future. Thus we are determined to put an extra emphasis on developing our business here and increasing our presence in the national market."
