9 Engineering Entrance Exams besides JEE Main 2021 as backup

The engineering entrance exams are a big thing in India. They are one of the most sought after exams in the world. Qualifying the top engineering entrance exam in India guides the applicants to a university or institute which provides better education and facilities while also giving them a bright future. And thus, students are constantly waiting for any update, backup plans to get into the best engineering colleges. Of course, IITs and NITs take up the first positions, still, students know that only a handful of students get into these. But JEE Main 2021 is not the only exam, right?

Here is a list of top engineering entrance exams and their tentative schedule, along with what colleges accept them. Tops the list is JEE Main 2021. Its registration is in progress. Yet, it is not the only one. Besides JEE Main 2021, students should also look for backup exams. Thus, students must look at these 9 entrance exams after JEE Main 2021.

1. VITEEE 2021

VIT University is considered one of the best engineering institutes aside from IITs and NITs. You get an admission based on the VIT Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE). The computer-based test (CBT) which will be held in April 2021 to get admissions into various VIT campuses i.e. in VIT Vellore, Bhopal, Chennai, and Andhra Pradesh respectively. The application form VITEEE 2021 are available at vit.ac.in. 10+2 passed/appearing candidates can apply until March 30, 2021.

As a considerable change this year, the institute will also accept JEE Main 2021 scores for admission in VIT.

2. BITSAT 2021

Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS), Pilani conducts BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) for admission into various courses. The online mode of three hours duration will comprise of 150 multiple choice questions divided into four parts. The authorities will release the BITSAT 2021 exam date along with the official brochure. The application form will also come out along with a detailed information brochure. As per the BITSAT exam pattern 2021, each question has four answer options, out of which candidates are required to choose one correct answer.

As per the previous year's BITSAT exam date, the test will happen in May 2021. Candidates who will qualify for BITSAT 2021 will be offered admissions based on merit at any of the three campuses – BITS Pilani, BITS Goa, and BITS Hyderabad.

3. COMEDK UGET 2021

COMEDK UGET is a state-level examination providing a gateway to students for admission in engineering and architecture courses offered by institutes of the Karnataka state. The exam is conducted across 300 exam centres for engineering programs that offer around 20000 seats. As per COMEDK UGET Exam Pattern, the questions are based on class XI and XII syllabus of PCM. The exam has a total of 180 objective questions that will have to be attempted in 180 minutes.

The exam for the academic year 2020-21 has just come to an end, so for 2021, the dates will probably come out in April. Students will have a lot of time to study for the exam and understand the pattern.

4. MET 2021

MET 2021 is a university level entrance exam conducted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) annually for admitting candidates to various UG and PG degree programs at the university. The seats are allotted as per candidates’ ranks, availability of seats and the choices filled by them. MET 2021 Registrations have started from December 11, 2020. Eligible candidates can fill MET 2021 application form on the official website which is manipal.edu.

As per MET 2021 selection criteria, 40% of the marks in qualifying exam (Class 12th) and 60% marks obtained in MET are considered for admission.

5. NPAT 2021

NMIMS NPAT (NMIMS Programs After 12th) is the authorized entrance exam for admissions to Undergraduate Degree and Integrated Degree Programs in Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies or the NMIMS University. The exam dates will be soon out. They should have a score of a minimum 50% in PCM in class 12 or equivalent for admittance in Mumbai campus. Applicants are required to score a minimum 45% in PCM in class 12 or equivalent for getting into Shirpur campus.

Students from Open School can apply for NPAT as well.

6. SRMJEE 2021

The SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE) is conducted by SRM Institute of Science and Technology for all eligible aspirants. The online or computer-based test is held for admissions into the 7,000 undergraduate engineering seats available. SRMJEEE 2021 application form has been released on the official website (srmist.edu.in) on December 12 till March 31.

The examinee for the B.Tech course will have to attempt Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English and Aptitude section while the Biomedical Engineering candidates will have to opt for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Aptitude questions.

7. CUCET 2021

CUCET 2021 Entrance Test will be conducted in the third week of May 2021. It is a national level entrance test. Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is conducted once a year. CUCET 2021 will be organized by the 14 Central Universities of India.

The exam dates are not out yet, but the UG admission criteria include 50% in 12th Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and/or Biology.

8. BHUUET 2021

The Banaras Hindu University is among the top universities in India which runs various UG and PG degree level course. BHU UET is a university level entrance exam conducted for admission in various undergraduate courses for the session 2021-2022. All UG admission in BHU is based on merit in the UET subject to fulfilment of eligibility requirements of the course applied for.

Application form for Banaras Hindu University Undergraduate Entrance Test will release in the online mode, at bhuonline.in. It is to be noted that if candidates want to apply for more than one course, then they are required to fill separate application forms for those courses.

9. SITEEE 2021

Symbiosis Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (SITEEE) is conducted annually by the Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT). The applicants who qualify SITEEE will be offered admission into the institute. JEE Main and MHT CET qualified applicants are also eligible for admission. The University level entrance exam offers admission to eligible applicants into the 420 available B.Tech seats. The entrance exam consists of 100 questions and the total marks are 200. The duration of SITEEE is 150 minutes.

There are also state-level exams for all graduation courses including engineering exams. Normally, they go with the state initial with the suffix - CET. Major names include MHCET, KCET, WBJEE, etc.
