3Com flags off R&D center in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Marlborough-based 3Com has opened its Indian Research and Development Center (IDC) in Hyderabad. The center is being set up through a strategic partnership with Mars Telecom. The IDC will complement 3Com's R&D facilities in the US, UK and Taiwan besides focusing on 3Com's line of VoIP products.







Mars Telecom, a Hyderabad-based STPI registered firm, presently has a workforce of 37 engineers, which would be increased to 80 in the next 15 months. Commenting on the new R&D center, 3Com IDC director Mohan Sayani said, "3Com and Mars' resources will collaborate very closely in delivering industry leading networking products for local and global markets."







Mars Telecom would help 3Com in developing effective products for global markets, informed Mars Telecom, Managing Director, Ramesh Sundaresan.





Inaugurating the new facility, 3Com voice engineering senior director Rich Boule said, "Today VoIP has a 65 percent CAGR, and 3Com's product line plays a significant role. Setting up this R&D center in India is a strategic decision and complements 3Com's global technology development effort".





3Com is a provider of innovative, practical and high-value voice and data networking products, services and solutions for enterprises of all sizes and public sector organizations.
