3Com announces H3C S12500 switching platform

BANGALORE, INDIA: 3Com Corporation announced its next-generation H3C S12500 large core/data centre switching platform. The switches were tested at The Tolly Group, an independent testing organization, and Spirent’s TestCenter platform, which validated the S12500’s ability of the switches.

Qiu Wei, network operation and maintenance director, Sohu, a China-based online community destinations, who recently purchased the H3C S12500 platform data center solution, said: “Based on the outstanding results H3C equipment provided, we chose H3C for our data centre, and we are confident it will provide exceptional availability of services, readily meet increasing bandwidth requirements, and capably support any emerging new services we offer our community members.”

In both tests, the S12500 demonstrated superior performance for layer 2, layer 3 (for both IPv4 and IPv6) and MPLS. The Spirent test validated the H3C S12518 supported 100 percent throughput with zero packet loss across 128 10 GE (non-blocking) ports while forwarding L2 unicast, L3 IPv4 unicast, L3 IPv6 unicast, and L3 MPLS traffic.
