MUMBAI, INDIA: More than half of US businesses use cloud computing. In the next six years, the number of small businesses using cloud computing will more than double to 80 percent.

SMBs are recognizing the flexibility and safety that cloud computing offers. With so many organizations willing to deploy applications in the cloud, it’s important to find ways to make the process easier and more efficient.

Migrating to the cloud can often take a long time or require an expert who can offer help. Here are three tips SMBs can use to deploy enterprise applications in the cloud.

Create automation: The pain point today is the application that’s running the entire company such as CRM, ERP or messaging application.

To get one of those automatically deployed in a few clicks is very challenging. You can hire someone an expert who will take three or four days to migrate the data or you can automate the process which in turn, will reduce the whole process down to a few hours.

Understand dependencies: No application runs by itself, it’s always dependent on something.

Similarly, an application cannot run as an island. You need to make sure your application is pointing to a database, so when you move or change you can reference back to the same dependencies.

Manage operations: After the application is fully deployed, you need to prepare for the back-up.

For that, you need a well-trained application expert, because data loss could prove fatal. While 80 percent of the tasks are basic, the 20 percent critical work may require an external agency to manage your operations.
