24x7 enables Thapar varsity to offer online B.Tech

BANGALORE: 24x7 Learning, a provider in technology enabled learning solutions, today announced that it is enabling Thapar University, an engineering institution at Patiala, Punjab to provide B.Tech courses through eLearning mode.

Though B.Tech programs for diploma holder working professionals were available through distance learning in India, this is the first time that it is being offered online, said a press release.

24x7 Learning is offering this program through AVAGMAH, its initiative to offer technology assistance to continuing education, added the release.

“On an average 2,65,000 students graduate with a technical diploma every year. These youngsters go on to seek employment as technical workforce in Industries across India. Many of them work as sole breadwinners for their families, so further education is an impossible dream,” said Karthik K S, CEO, 24x7 Learning.

“Through AVAGMAH, these diploma holders can now complete their B.Tech from their homes or office, without having to leave their jobs. With this initiative, we’re proud to usher in growth, and enhance the career prospects for this stratum of young workforce in the country”.

Aimed at working diploma professionals, the 3-year online degree programme is available in the disciplines of mechanical, electrical, civil and computer science.

Polytechnic diploma holders in relevant area of engineering or equivalent, or B.Sc (CS/IT), BCA or equivalent for B.Tech CS&E program with minimum two years of work experience can now avail of this course after clearing the admission (entrance) test conducted by Thapar University, said the release.

The Academic delivery of the program has been designed to be learner-oriented, which means the student has to be an active participant in the teaching-learning process.

The program follows a multi-channel approach which includes self instructional material vetted by IIT faculty, online live classroom sessions, practical lab sessions at local engineering college or at Patiala, assignments and projects, added the release.
