2050: A Love Story and Sun Microsystems

BANGALORE, INDIA: Sun Microsystems today announced its technology partnership with Baweja Movies for Love Story 2050, a sci-fi movie directed by Harry Baweja which also marks the debut of his son Herman Baweja.

The film, scheduled for release on July 4, is a love story between Harman and Priyanka Chopra set against a sci-fi backdrop of 2050.

The film makes extensive use of technology and special effects in creating a time machine which transports the characters to Mumbai in the year 2050 with flying cars, 200-storeyed buildings, robots and sky rails.

The announcement was made at a press meet here today which was attended by Herman Baweja and Boman Irani, who plays the scientist who makes the time machine.

A robot and a computer-generated teddy bear will also play leading roles.

Sun is providing technology platform for the visual effects in the film. The Sun brand also appears in teh film through some innovative in-film placements.

The post-production and visual effects have been worked

upon by WETA (Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong), John Cox, Rising Sun Pictures (Harry Potter Series and Superman Returns) and Prime Focus.

K P Unnikrishnan, director, marketing, Alliances and Teleweb Sales, Sun Microsystems India said: “Technology forms the foundation of sci-fi films. Hence the need to get the technology right is of utmost importance for the creators of special effects and animation for the film.”

Sun has rendered technology and technical support and onside assistance to Paramount Pictures’ animated film, Barnyard and 3D animation film, Big Buck Bunny’.
