“Technologies for a greener, connected, secure, healthier and safer earth” is the underlying theme of TIDC 2008. TIDC 2008 will bring technology to life once again – from new innovations to exchange of ideas between experts as well as ecosystem partners. The two-day conference is expected to attract over 700 delegates comprising R&D staff, academia, senior and middle-level managers from the world of technology.

“Analog is seeing a new emergence with the world going increasingly digital. With its wide range of analog and embedded processing solutions, Texas Instruments is all set to enable innovative solutions in electronic design and manufacture, particularly in areas like medical, energy, security & surveillance and automotive”, said Dr Bobby Mitra, Managing Director, Texas Instruments India. “TIDC is a forum for our partners and customers to exchange ideas, learn about future technologies and collaborate to develop innovative designs that would benefit mankind”, he added.

This year, TIDC will focus on areas of low-power design/management, security & surveillance, open source systems and the potential of telemedicine and affordable healthcare via comprehensive and ground-breaking medical technology from Texas Instruments. A panel discussion on "Alternative Energy for India: Challenges and Opportunities" will bring major players in the area of alternative sources of energy on one platform, to highlight one of the biggest issues facing the technology world today and address the challenges ahead.

TIDC 2008 will also showcase technology that can help bring down the cost of high definition video and drive adoption of video across emerging sectors such as surveillance IP cameras, High-Definition Television (HDTV) and medical imaging. Some of the technologies that would be featured in the Conference as part of the keynote include:

Bionic Vision. After the Bionic Arm, TI is enabling technology to offer vision to thousands of blind people. A "bionic eye" may one day fight diseases like Retinitis pigmentosa and macular degeneration. Together, these diseases afflict millions of people; both occur gradually and can result in total blindness. The bionic eye can help such affected people see again

The new DLP Pico Video Projection Kit. Delegates will learn how DLP technology can be utilized to create compelling new products using the power of light, for a wide range of emerging markets, from hyper-spectral imaging and structured lighting to optical networking and a variety of UV applications.

Slingbox PRO-HD, a nifty  high definition device that place-shifts any cable box, DVR, or other television-based media source to any PC in the house, or even anywhere in the world (either to a remote PC, or to a compatible smartphone).

The Conference is designed to address strategic business initiatives and will include deep dive technical sessions for the semiconductor environment.  There will also be technical sessions on topics such as “Low cost, low-power, high definition – Multimedia with TI”, “Higher Conversion Efficiencies – Renewable Energy” and “The impact of DSP on Medical Devices/ Tele-medicine” amongst others. A specialized session called “Ask the Experts", will feature highly specialized TI executives answering technical queries from delegates seeking a deeper understanding of the technologies showcased at TIDC India.

Over 30 technical exhibits and demos of TI technologies and applications will allow delegates to view the different offerings on TI technology. TI’s design and business partners will showcase their innovations using TI’s silicon-based IP, products and services. For more information, please visit: www.ti.com/tidcindia08.
