The company has put in place Go To Market to make sure that iconic products are introduced in an impacting manner

GOA, INDIA: Aiming towards streamlining its overall operations and getting more out of everything, Nokia has engaged itself into a restructuring phase.

As part of this, there would be three different groups working together towards achieving greater profitability.

"We have formed three different groups of devices, markets and software & services. We firmly believe that all these three groups will work together in a better way when it comes to delivering value to our end customers. In addition to this, we are also looking at an all-compassing entity – GTM (Go To Market). So all the above-mentioned three elements will have some component of GTM embedded into it," explained D. Shivakumar, vice president and managing director, Nokia India.

Working in concert with devices, markets and software & service – GTM will make sure that the company does the right product launch and at the right time.

"The objective of GTM is to make sure that we have a structured approach in terms of product or services launches. So as part of GTM we would be making sure that all our iconic products have a special impacting launch. As of now we have a team of 35 people within GTM in India but moving forward we would surely be increasing this figure," said Vineet Taneja, head of Go To Market, India, Sales, Nokia India.

Elaborating about the restructuring at the company, Shivakumar explained that on an average, the overall lifecycle of a product is about 24 months and with the help of this restructuring, the company would be able to best utilize the product's capabilities in the first five months.

"It is all about deriving the maximum value in the best possible way. This restructuring would surely help us achieve that," he added.

New products in the offing

With this restructuring in place, the company is launching four different products targeting at different market segments in the coming months.

First in the fray is the N96, an explore category device with 16 GB memory space.

"This will surely take convergence to the next level. We are also launching N78 which delivers maximum speed at minimum effort," Taneja added.

In addition to the above, the company is also launching Nokia 6220 classic – with 5 mega pixel camera, Nokia 6210, the next level phone for navigation and Nokia 1209 – an entry level phone with phone sharing capability of upto five phonebooks.

"India is already the second largest market for us after China. And moving forward we only see it gain more importance. We are committed to provide more choice to the end customers in the form of new products and services. I am sure that all these products would be well accepted in this scenario," Shivakumar said.
