CHENNAI, INDIA: MindTree Ltd today opened its development center - MindTree Coromandel - in Chennai.

The center will focus on building centers of excellence in the Hi Tech, Insurance, and Automotive Industry Groups, informed Krishnakumar Natarajan, chief executive officer, MindTree.

"It is a momentous occasion for MindTree and we are glad to further strengthen our commitment to Chennai. The city's rich talent pool, its growing infrastructure and good connectivity to Bangalore and the rest of the world made it easy for us to select it as the second city in India to set up a development center," said Ashok Soota, chairman and managing director, MindTree.

Ascendas Mahindra IT Park Pvt Ltd has built the new facility.

Situated in Mahindra World City SEZ in the city suburb, the development center has the capacity to accommodate 2,800 professionals.

The company started its Chennai operation in 2006.

Besides MindTree Coromandel, MindTree has three development centers in Bangalore and one in New Jersey, USA.

The company is also planning to set up a development center in Bhubaneswar. US Consul General in Chennai, David T Hopper, inaugurated the center.
